Ship design
By spotogspindel | February 26, 2014
Eidesvik has once again asked me to deliver art for a ship, the grandest one to date, due in July. And as part of the planning process, they invited me along to meet the furniture supplier, Ekornes. We spent the day going over the entire interior design of the ship, everything from buttons in the elevator to the flooring to the artwork.
Colors, styles, moods… a wishing-well to choose from. A team of designers and architects had made a proposal, and we commented, changed and applauded. The design is so cool, so modern, so sleek, it´s going to be the most elegant interior!
We ended the session with a walk through the 5 story showroom, an old, converted sea-house in Ålesund, trying different types of chairs and sofas, picking material based on “cleanablility”, fire-safety, in addition to style and color. So many things to think about when choosing. What an interesting day! I´ve learned so much today, and can hardly wait to dig into the work on making art for this ship!
