Mariannes dress finished

By spotogspindel | May 18, 2009

After a couple of rounds with hand-stitching, I am now finished with Mariannes wedding dress. She was here last night for her final fitting, and now everything is in place. I am so looking forward to seeing (and posting) pictures of her from her wedding, when the dress is on her, and not on a stand.

The whole dress is made of silk. Chiffons and satin, with touches of organza, tulle and velvet on the waistband. And of course the glass-beads she made herself.

Oh, and the “bump” you see on the back isn´t a bump; it´s a mountain! On an island where her mother is from, and where she´s spent her holidays as a child.

You can see the process of making this dress in older posts on my blog.

What a stunning dress! I had never thought of clothing as telling a story you can’t wait to read until I started reading your blog. Thank you for that.
