Welcome to my site! I work as an eco-designer, an artist, as a teacher and as a researcher, and creating, or ARTING as I prefer, makes me happy! This is both a portfolio of things I´ve made and a blog meant to inspire.

I know, I´m getting ahead of myself here, all of a sudden in a Christmas-mood. It must be the advent-calenders I´m making 🙂 This definitely has an element of H.C. Andersen: “Girl with the sulfur-matches”-feel to it, or maybe it´s a little bit of Cinderella. What is it with me and fairy-tales lately?

Experience is a hard teacher because she gives the test first, and the lesson afterwards. Vernon Law I found the quote and really, really liked it, because it is so true. Then I found this painted portrait I made an attempt at a couple of years ago in my art-journal. There are a couple of […]

Illustration Friday´s theme this week is Spent. I immediately thought of the song”Angel Eyes”, which has been on my repertoire for years. It´s an old standard jazz-tune, maybe best known in Ella Fitzgerald´s recording. The lyrics say mispent, not spent, but weather time is well-spent or mis-spent, well, you don´t always know untill it´s too […]

Illustrations Friday´s theme is Racing, and here is a little weekend-painting from my journal. I found an old photograph online, that I looked at for inspiration. It´s a bit rough in edges and expression, not thoroughly worked-through, but I kind of like it anyway.

IF- spooky

Saturday, October 16th, 2010

Illustration Friday´s theme this week is Spooky. I don´t know how spooky my illustration is, but if they decide to start playing, it could turn scary… Here´s Dusty Springfield´s Spooky. Personally I think the music is cool, and the hair-do is the frightening part!

Illustration Friday´s theme this week is transport. And for once I painted my contribution. “The purpose of art is washing the dust of daily life of our souls.” Pablo Picasso I am inspired by Brian Wallace´s exhibition-opening at Bømlo Kulturhus, and by one of my all-time favorite cartoon-movies: The Triplettes from Belleville. It´s a french […]

It´s a simple collage this week, but I think the words pretty much say it all: It´s simply beneath my dignity to back-stab or bad-mouth those who are below me! It´s a two-forked sword this time… (can you say that in English?)

IF: old-fashioned

Sunday, September 26th, 2010

Illustration Friday´s theme this week is Old-fashioned. I´ve been working a lot with old photographs the past months, for different commissions. By the end of this week, you´ll see a whole series for a new ship. But today, there is just a little, silly fun collage. Riding these bikes, maybe it was the old-fashioned way […]

Illustration Friday´s theme today is Acrobat. I immediately thought of this picture I made for one of the bigger ships I´ve made artwork for, Skandi Acergy. This is a young boy and his Grandfather showing off their acrobatic skills. The original photo of them was taken around 1950 in Austevoll. But these are best acrobats […]

This week’s topic is “Proverb” over at Illustration Friday. “A proverb is a short sentence based on long experience.” ~ Miguel de Cervantes “It´s better to have a bird in the hand, than ten birds on the roof.” is a very well-used proverb in Norway, even nowadays. My collage is a rather strange mix of […]
