Tuesday, November 30th, 2010Illustration Friday´s theme this week is savour. The definition is: 1. The spesific taste or smell of something 2. A distinctive sensation “You must pre-live the future, not re-live the past… and savor the moment!” I first thought of lemons and could almost taste them just by thinking about them… and decided I´d work with […]
embroidered kelim pillow
Tuesday, November 30th, 2010And talking of pillows… here´s a pillow-cover I embroidered some years ago. Inspired by Turkish kelim-rugs, I found an old carpet I used as a “pattern”. Every color consists of at least three different shade of a main color. And most threads are tweed, to add even more life to the colors.
lime green pillows
Monday, November 29th, 2010My little weekend-project was fast, fun and easy. Inspired by Lacy´s new, blue door, I decided that a small, free make-over was due for my living-room-sofa. Small because it´s quick and easy, and free because I already had some beautiful silk-fabric lying around waiting to be put to use. A couple of zippers come in […]
Marinaden
Sunday, November 28th, 2010I want to present Marinaden to you! This is an excellent delicatessy-shop/ café / catering-service in Bømlo. Their cook, Anita, has a well-earned reputation as Bømlo´s finest. She asked me this summer if I could help them re-do the graphic design for her company. We kept the logo, but most of the other things are […]
Thankful
Saturday, November 27th, 2010Since it´s Thanksgiving -weekend, I thought I´d simply make a small list of things I´m thankful for right now: 1. I have my family around me, and that the weekend will be filled with silliness, song, laughter, creativity and a turkey… 2. I have the best jobs ever! 3. We are finally getting a safe […]
On and off
Saturday, November 27th, 2010They’re building a new road right by my house which is absolutely great. But for a couple of days now I’ve been without web-access. So if there is less activity on my blog, and longer before I reply on comments, it’s simply because I’m offline… I don’t know how long this will last, but hope […]
Puppets
Thursday, November 25th, 2010A new project with the teachers-to-be: making hand-puppets. This was our second day, and we´ve gotten so much done! Some of the students chose to sculpt in styrofoam, adding paper-clay on top for the details. Others chose sculpting in styrofoam, and gluing down paper-maché the old fashioned way with wallpaper-glue and newspapers. The third group […]
a new twist on lock and key
Wednesday, November 24th, 2010On one of my velvet mini-books, I added these two strings of hand-dyed ribbon on the back-spine. On the front-cover I glued down this flattened key (yes, it´s a fake key, honor to Tim Holtz), part of the top sticking out over the edge. Tying the ribbons around the top of the key, and it´s […]
more book-binding
Tuesday, November 23rd, 2010A new group of eager students learned how to bind books today. They had already had a class in mono-printing, and brought their left-overs, to add some color on the pages. All of them finished, but wanted to add some details, stuff they had at home, so I´ll have to show the finished results later. […]
If-sneaky
Tuesday, November 23rd, 2010I know, I´m getting ahead of myself here, all of a sudden in a Christmas-mood. It must be the advent-calenders I´m making 🙂 This definitely has an element of H.C. Andersen: “Girl with the sulfur-matches”-feel to it, or maybe it´s a little bit of Cinderella. What is it with me and fairy-tales lately?
