Janne Robberstad

Welcome to my site! I work as an eco-designer, an artist, as a teacher and as a researcher, and creating, or ARTING as I prefer, makes me happy! This is both a portfolio of things I´ve made and a blog meant to inspire.

I got my hands on a vintage muffin form in Battle Ground. After sending it through the dish-washer and painting it in matte varnish, it is now my new favorite storage space for some of my favorite beads. Who needs to buy decorative interior-stuff when the things you use are so beautiful in themselves?

more toys for grown-ups

Sunday, June 13th, 2010

Here is my other toy-camera. I don´t even know the name of it, but I bought it from Hannah Grey. It takes four pictures almost at the same time. Here me and Michelle are trying out the time-difference, while running and playing in the garden. Light spills, and all of a sudden you can get […]

I took a class with Brian Wallace in April, and never completely finished my painting. I´ve added some more layers and details, and think it´s beginning to look a lot like its´finished. It´s all acrylics painted on wood. I really like the way Brian mixes colors to make the pictures really warm. Next week I´ll […]

This week´s IF topic is “Ripple”, making an effort to help with the Gulf oil spill through The Ripple Sketches blog. Both my cards are pictures transfered to silk, and sewn down on hand-painted paper. This is the back of my fig-box-cabinet, where I placed a little wooden boat. This is a manipulated photo I […]

My face in Space

Friday, June 11th, 2010

I just found the coolest thing ever (next to being an astronaut). NASA invites ordinary people to participate digitally on one of their two last trips to space with the Space shuttles. I just signed up, uploaded a picture of myself, and got a confirmation-number. The launch is in september, and I´ll even get a […]

My Chicago-souvenir is this cute little toy-camera. A lilac Lomography! (Urban outfitters sell online too, and have a range of funky cameras in even funkier colors) To spice it up even more I got a special film at Urban Outfitters, that is golden-red colors. The film looks like it´s spooled on backwards, maybe that´s what […]

Celebrating the International Taco-day!

Tuesday, June 8th, 2010

First you start by inviting your friends and neighbors over. It´s easy to think you can just invite people over for the weekend, but people need food in the middle of the week too, so a Tuesday is perfect for company! I wanted to make real lemonade. You simply don´t get that in Norway, there […]

Camel fig box

Monday, June 7th, 2010

For the inside of my fig-box-door I wanted to paint a camel I rode a few years back when I was Egypt. If you´ve ever been warned riding camels, that it´s fairly uncomfortable…  well, I can only confirm, tourist as I am. Here is the original (manipulated) photo, squeezed in quite a bit. The outline […]
