Janne Robberstad

Welcome to my site! I work as an eco-designer, an artist, as a teacher and as a researcher, and creating, or ARTING as I prefer, makes me happy! This is both a portfolio of things I´ve made and a blog meant to inspire.

I am on my way to Tuscany, Italy, for a week of summer, pasta and painting. However I don’t know how the internet-access is at the remote town I’ll be staying, so there might be a very quiet week on my blog. But while I am gone, why don’t you check out this very inspiring […]

Celebrating Midsummers eve the traditional way, a big bonfire with all the neighbors, picking flowers on the walk back home, seven different kinds, gathered with a little silk ribbon. Put it under your pillow and you will dream of your true love.

London opera

Tuesday, June 22nd, 2010

My last days in London for now, started with an outing, taking the train down to Fareham and Portsmouth, looking at an old medieval castle (don´t you just adore the English countryside?) and ships, (hm. somethings wrong with the quality of the pictures here) and visiting friends. For a last-night spectacular, we went to the […]

London Let the sunshine in!

Sunday, June 20th, 2010

Covent Garden is celebrating it´s 180 year anniversary these days, with a big music-venue at Leichester Square. We past by twice, first the crew of We will rock you had the stage, and people were humming along to Another one bites the dust. Half an hour later, All that Jazz from Chicago was buzzing. This […]

London fringe

Saturday, June 19th, 2010

Second day in London, and I´m filling up on inspiration. The V&A has a wonderful theatre-design exhibition hidden way back on the third floor.  There were a couple of costumes there from The Lion King. I really appreciate the chance to see extravagant costumes up-close, because there are so many details you don´t see when […]

London: Love never dies

Friday, June 18th, 2010

I´m in my favorite city in the world for the weekend: London!  Visiting my dear friend Freya, an excellent costume-designer, we´ve decided to indulge in art and culture this weekend. For us that will most probably include lots of costumes. And where better to find costumes than the theatre? We started of last night with the […]

Bergen smau

Thursday, June 17th, 2010

A “smau” is a very narrow road in between houses. Not houses anywhere. Houses in Bergen. I made this collage of some of these very narrow roads in Bergen. The picture was delivered to DOF´s main office in Bergen yesterday, and is now decorating the board-room.

Far out oddity

Wednesday, June 16th, 2010

I visited this textile exhibition outside Bergen today. Marit, one of my former students is now studying at Art school, and she was one of the participants. Needless to say, I´m very proud of her! This is her work, the hanging flowers in front. The chords are all elastic, and bounce up and down. She´s called […]

Interior trends

Tuesday, June 15th, 2010

I watched a TV show a while ago where the following ten interior trends were introduced. I thought I´d use them as an inspiration-point to show you some pictures from my own house: 10: Quality furniture. As the economy is tighter, people invest in lasting quality rather than flat-packed thirteen-to-a-dozen-furniture. One of the few pieces […]
