We will rock you

By spotogspindel | November 15, 2010

Above is BML´s project-choir. (click for big!) This fall we´ve been working with Queen´s music. Two intense weekends, the last one was this weekend, and it ended with two concerts in Bømlo ‘Kulturhus. Two sold out concerts!

A news-video from the local TV. Here you can also see some of my set-designs “live” 🙂

Several great vocalists, and so much fun singing in the choir.

A really rockin´ band, leather, lace and nails, lots of fire-hydrant red lipstick, two killer-queen-dancers. It was great! If I have to say so myself 🙂

A statement “tattoo” on the conductor´s back-head! Too bad I don´t have a picture of him, in his costume… More pictures from the concert here.

In addition to singing in the choir, I had the privilege of playing around with some set-design. Since I know the lighting-designer ( :-D) , we decided to use the round metal-thing (sorry, only know the Norwegian word) for some of the spots, and I made pictures to be projected inside the middle (which was actually a hole in the curtain, and into the cinema-screen behind it. You get a better idea from the picture below.

Some of the designs:

If you´ve followed my blog a while, maybe you recognize my Killer Queen from an If-illustration a while a go?

And the iconic Freddie need to be part of the show!

Maybe my favorite song of them all is One Vision.

Is that you in the front row belting it out right after they show the how fun! And fascinating to find out that the picture on the round thing is projected. Before I read that I wondered about the process for doing such a large image. Clever!
