Photo bag

By spotogspindel | January 16, 2011

My Sunday-project this week I´ve been thinking about for a while….

I always carry my camera with me in my bag, almost everywhere I go. But you know how it is, a big bag with lots of stuff in it, it´s easy for the camera to get scratched against keys or other sharp things. I do have a special padded camera-case, but it´s so big and bulky, it´s  just not all that practical for everyday use. So I thought I´d make a lighter alternative.

Using one of my favorite sewing techniques, I decorated a velvet fabric, the color matching my camera-strap of course 🙂 . Here you can see the machine embroidery from the back of the fabric.

Because the velvet is kind of “hairy”, it protects the camera a bit more than thinner fabric would.

My favorite part is finding new ways to integrate fun art with practical use.

Here it is all finished. Beaded ribbon for closing and all. Small, light, cute and practical, just like I wanted.

So cute, and a great idea!
I made a camera bag too this weekend, but a bigger, and bulkier one, to hold all my equipment for special photo excursions. I’m almost never happy with commercially made stuff, and sometimes it’s almost a curse having to “improve” on everything I buy :-))
But yours is small and brilliant, and I’ll be making my own version of it!
And thanks for the info, see you on Thursday!

well Janne, I know us blokes aren’t aloud to say ‘lovely’ so pretend I am saying it i a really deep voice,

    like one octave down 🙂

It’s really a wonderful fresh work. Lovely 🙂 At first I thought it was like automatic drawing – you know you look in the other direction and draw (contour drawing?) because it’s so loose and free.

    Very hippyish actually.
You were never in Hair by chance 🙂
