Welcome to my site! I work as an eco-designer, an artist, as a teacher and as a researcher, and creating, or ARTING as I prefer, makes me happy! This is both a portfolio of things I´ve made and a blog meant to inspire.

Parrot of the Caribean

By spotogspindel | May 1, 2012

Finally I finished a project! I´ve been wanting to get a set-box-frame for my machine embroidered tropical birds, and recently found one at IKEA to try it out with.

This is Peter the Patriarc Parrot, or Grandpar, as he´s usually called. He´s about 10×15 cm (4×6 inches) and his framed living-quarters are 30×30 cm (10×10 inches).

His jungle background is made of silk tissue, that I made at Art & Soul in Portland in October. Such a fun class!

I´ve painted the inside of the frame in the same green shades as the silk jungle. (Mind the reflections in the glass are affecting the colors here.)

So at a ripe age, Grand-Par finally got his own living-quarters, and he´s feeling quite smug about it. 🙂
