my new calender book

By spotogspindel | October 16, 2010

After being creative with my Mac for seven hours straight, my back told me it was high time to do something else. Preferably not sitting down. So I gathered a few bits and pieces to see what I could do with them. They´re very wintery in color, aren´t they?

I need a new calender-book next month, so it´s been on my agenda to prepare a new one. They´ve stopped selling the ones I´ve used for the past couple of year (typical!), so I decided now that Michelle has taught me how to, why don´t I just make my own book from scratch?

Sewing the pages onto the linen-back. This was supposed to be a hidden back, and then half-way through I changed my mind, because I wanted to try something new. So it ended up like a fake coptic binding, I think.

One of my favorite parts of the book is all the raw edges of the paper.

The tassels-stuff at the back is not just for decorative purposes, it also helps keep the binding thread in place. And it IS decorative 🙂

I´ve used the same stamps for the numbers on the inside as in my other books. Everything else is new, so I wanted a little something to be familiar 🙂

And here it is! The cover is silk-screen printed with a fern-heart. It only took me about 4 hours to make, but since I was winging it a bit, the stitches aren´t really straight and I´m slightly worried about the back being strong enough. I was also very mentally prepared for a very brightly colored calender again, so I´m hoping the pale (and limited) color-scale will grow on me. The size is about 14 x 28 x 3 cm. So it is a lot bigger than my other ones. I´m gonna need to change purse for the next half year or so…

What is your favorite fall-evening creative activity?

Oh you are a master of many talents! 🙂
My favourite activity during autumn evenings is to drink red wine.

But I have recently given it up – which is sad for the industry!

    see you

Lulu, you are just the sweetest!
I´ve stopped watching TV, that actually buys me several extra hours every night!
Hours that can be filled with fun stuff like this! 🙂
