My little land

By spotogspindel | July 26, 2011

In these past few days, it seems as though Norway has gotten a new National anthem. Ole Paus wrote the music and lyrics, and several performers have been singing it, to great comfort in these days of grieving. I have made an attempt to translate it. It doesn´t sound as good when you loose the rhyms, but hopefully you´ll get an impression of the pictures presented. Here you can hear the song, sung by Maria Mena. Or watch it with this news-collage from the past days.

Sitat Mitt lille land

Sitat

My little land,

a small place, a handful of peace tossed out among mountain-plains and fjords

My little land,

where tall mountains stand rooted between houses and people and words

And where silence and dreams grow

like an echo in poor soil.

My little land,

where the ocean flows like a mild and soft caress from coast to coast.

My little land

where stars glide past and becomes a landscape when it dawns

while the night stands dark and quiet.

It’s a lovely song, Janne. Sending love and light. It’s hard to find the words…
