More Chicago

By spotogspindel | April 12, 2010

Chicago is all about music, isn´t it? We did our own version. John, Birgitte´s boyfriend, plays cello in a melanc-pop-ical-band, and Saturday night they had a gig at the Purple Otter (!). It was a charity-thing for a friend trying to fund a low-budget movie. (Which I think is a brilliant idea). Anyway. The band is called Paper Thick Walls if you want to check them out.

Birgitte is in the middle of an assignment at school where she needs to sew a doll. I´ve never made a doll before, so I thought I´d tag along. Her doll is basically all sewing, no painting. But she is adding some old clock-parts, and I think it makes her look pretty awesome! (work in progress) We found a semi-old alarm-clock at a charity-shop which Birgitte plucked apart to find the funky pieces.

Yesterday I cut her…

… and sewed her.

I filled her with yarn, instead of fabric. Fabric can often be hard and lumpy, whereas the yarn is softer and  smoother. Using a chop-stick is good way of getting the yarn in the right place. Today I painted her. Acrylics. And open acrylics form Golden. Her tattoo:

Her ballerina-slippers:

Her fiery red curls:

I must admit I missed Lulu and Deirdra, my doll-making friends, to ask on the procedure. And I am already spoiled on the heat-gun. But I tried and I think so far it´s coming along relatively smoothly. _______________________________________________________
