Janne Robberstad

Welcome to my site! I work as an eco-designer, an artist, as a teacher and as a researcher, and creating, or ARTING as I prefer, makes me happy! This is both a portfolio of things I´ve made and a blog meant to inspire.

Here is a picture I made in 2002. It is all machine embroidery on silk. I made a bigger one for a ship, about twice this size, and took me two weeks straight of machine-sowing, 6 hours a day. (Except for the face and hands and gold-background). I had to take breaks so the sowing-machine could cool down. The pedal was so hot, I burned my foot.

When I was finished, I mounted it on a thick (5 cm) solid wooden plate that I had painted black. This one is about 20 x 35 cm without the wood.

I think it is the arch-angel Michael, but I have to admit I am not sure.

Below is an excert, so you can see some of the seams.
