Welcome to my site! I work as an eco-designer, an artist, as a teacher and as a researcher, and creating, or ARTING as I prefer, makes me happy! This is both a portfolio of things I´ve made and a blog meant to inspire.

IF – Pioneer

By spotogspindel | December 27, 2009

Roald Amundsen

Roald Engelbregt Gravning Amundsen  16 July 1872 – c. 18 June 1928) was a Norwegian explorer of polar regions. He led the first Antarctic expedition to reach the South Pole between 1910 and 1912. He was also the first person to reach both the North and South Poles. He is known as the first to traverse the Northwest Passage. He disappeared in June 1928 while taking part in a rescue mission. Amundsen with Douglas MawsonRobert Falcon Scott, and Ernest Shackleton, was a key expedition leader during the Heroic Age of Antarctic Exploration.

My picture is made for DOF´s huge multi-purpose ship “Skandi Arctic”, and the original is ca 60 x 120 cm. You can see more pictures from the ship here.

nice piece, Janne! I love the arctic and antarctic explorers (I’ve spent a lot of time with Shackleton and the Endurance) and done my share of ice climbing and cross-country skiing too! Cool stuff … literally!

Heroic pose, nicely composed with the long format and the ancient map. 🙂 Gets the message across nicely.
