Freestyle family

By spotogspindel | August 4, 2015

I finally started working on a piece I first thought of almost a year ago. When I was experimenting with the freestyle machine embroidery on the water-soluble fabric for my textile-culture-exam, I wanted to make a new type of lace curtain. A contemporary and very personal one. So I made a big digital collage with all my family-members, and today, almost 9 months later, I finally got to start sewing it.

This is work in progress, about 1/3 of the piece. The final panel or curtain will be about 40 x 80 cm. There is a layer of teal-colored tulle between the layers of the soluble fabric, which you can´t see. It´s taking it´s own sweet time, but I am actually surprised I got this far in one day.
