coins in cement!

By spotogspindel | June 2, 2012

I´ve never ever worked with concrete/ cement before. This can be fun!

Since I´ve never worked with cement before I thought it might be a good idea to actually try a bit before I get out on the island and start working with the coins there.

So with good help from fellow artist Lars and cement-expert (nearest neighbor & brother-in-law) Bjørn, we whipped up a small sample.

This cement already has sand in it, so all it needs is a bit of water. And it has a little glue in it too, so it´s super-strong!

Putting a thin layer of concrete on to a rock in my garden…

And the first coins are down! Boy, we need to work fast! Already after about 8 minutes, the concrete was starting to fix!

When it´s dry tomorrow, I´ll start experimenting with stuff that will make it oxidize much faster than normal… fun, fun, fun!!!!
