Christmas is… culture

By spotogspindel | December 10, 2009

The past week I´ve been to three different theatre-shows, one jazz-club concert and to the cinema. I love to be a “culture-producer”, but I love just as much to be a “culture-consumer”.

The first two shows, my darling did the lighting designs for, both staged by Bømloteateret.

Here is an old farce called “The girl in the car” (/Gå å legg deg!”) I´m not really super-excited about farce as a genre, but this was actually quite funny. Towards the end they had a ridiculous slow-motion scene, that just made my day!

Before Christmas a lot of theatres in Norway stage a family Christmas-show. This is a local version, with a bit of fairy-tale, a bit of story-telling, some caroling, a little dance with all the kids in the audience on stage. Huge success every year!

And then we have some jazz-club entertainment in the afternoon…

My dearest is a producer at the local culture-house, and now he´s started a jazz-club. Good for us!

The third and last movie in the Stieg Larson triology. If you´re looking for an alternative hero (heroine), look no further. Simply a really good movie. Thriller? Maybe that´s the genre, I´m not sure…

And to top it off, last night I was at my old folk high school, where the musical/theatre-class had their opening night. This years first big show, a self-made musical built up around highlights from different musicals. It was really good, and there are some talents there that I am sure will make it to the big stages in Norway in a couple of years…

If you think the time before christmas is stressful, take my advice and relax with some cultural input!
