Bømlo Theatre´s 3rd efficient choir-project: 2 weekends, 2 concerts, 65 singers, 7 band-members, 15 hits from the 1960s and 1970s… this can quickly turn into a lot of fun

I didn´t start taking picture until today, but the view is the same today. Cold and grey outside, and not really all that festive on the inside either. This is the window at my studio, which is more like my warehouse for storage.

Apart from Michelle´s wonderful clock and Tyler´s cheerful ribbon-curtain, there´s not much going on in the cosy-department here. I´ll show you why:

Three big, wooden boxes filled with art ready to be shipped off to India. Another two boxes ready packed for Monday´s trip to Søvika. And another 4-5 boxes of frames. There´s hardly room to think in here now

But back to the challenge.Today´s challenge is words. And where better to find words than in my favorite arts and crafts-books? My much loved & used library:

I combined it with a small enameled bead I made at Art & Soul (top left) and the 1368-bead. Which is part of a painting I made a couple of years ago, and had made into a MOO-card, which I in turn used under a thick coat of resin in a metal frame.

I found some mini-canvases, which they thought were REALLY small, but we finally agreed that they would be perfect for painting a small picture for their coming cousin.

Anders made a beautiful landscape with steep mountains. Underneath the mountains he made a scary crocodile!

He also made another one with a big, green lawn, where he would teach his cousin to play football. They football itself was a bit hard to paint though, so he simply kicked it off the field.

Andrea also made a beautiful landscape, mixing the colors wonderfully into a sea that looks warm and welcoming for bathing.

After a couple of layers, the shapes are defined.

This time I wanted to try something new: the extra heavy gel medium.

I´m repainting everything I already had painted to add the texture. But that´s the wonderful thing about painting, isn´t it?! You can just paint layer after layer until you´re happy I really like the extra depth the gel adds to the painting.

Several layers later, with lots of smaller details in place, but taking care to use a big brush, so it will still have some life.

And voilá! The painting is about 40 x 90 cm.

This last one is the lighthouse at Obrestad. I´ve heard this is a commissioned, temporary art-work, but I couldn´t find any info on it online.

Bømlo Theatre´s new choir-project, for which I´m the production-leader. Tomorrow is the deadline for joining , if anyone wants to be a part of the funk!

This time around it will be classical Motown-hits we´ll have fun with! This is the choir for busy people. Two weekend-rehearsals, rounded off with two concerts. Efficient, just the way we like it!

This ship will be finished in two months, and it seems there is a lot left.

The captain showed me around the ship. This will be the mess.

Under the bridge is an extra story, only about 1/3 of a normal hight story, and it will be filled with all sorts of electronics, fine machinery and miles of cords. Don´t envy the guys working here.

The bridge is so cool! It looks like a mix between the inside of a whale and an alien spaceship.

It´s good to see that there is space for my art

By the end of March it will all be in place!

Lately I´ve taken a strong liking to creative projects that isn´t done in 30 minutes, projects that take days and weeks, even months to finish. I´m having a great time with my time-consuming crafts, but there is a lot less action for the blog.

Future-evening-hobby-project-in-the-planning-alert!

I´ve seen these lushious velvet bed covers or blankets for a couple of years now, and SO want one. They´re quite expensive to buy, so I´ve been thinking about making one.

I found some silk velvet I bought a couple of years ago with a future dress in mind. I love the deep lime color, although I had actually wanted s darker color for this project, something like muted lavender or deep sea chocolate-blue.

But this color is lovely too, so why not. Part of the point is to use things I already have, right?

I plan to use a thick pure cotton fill-fabric for the middle, and have some ordinary green silk for the backing. Now, question is. For the actual quilting (which come to think of it, I´ve never actually done! By hand…) I have a couple of choices. The obvious first choice is to buy some green silk thread. Option two: can I use any of the three colors I already have? Now, this is where I would like your opinion! Please leave me a comment!

Rett hjem is a free interior magazine for Hordaland and Rogaland. I had a journalist and a photographer (and her little baby) visiting today. The article should be on print in February.

My Mom and my friend Anne helped me with critical eyes, to shift some things around. I like my living room so much better now! It looks more lived-in.

I especially am happy with the new place for this old cupboard. I didn´t know where to put it, so it was just standing on the floor in a corner. But now that I got it up, and put a couple of things in it, it looks so much better.

This is the journalist. I´m looking forward to seeing my home through the photographer´s eyes.

My house has undergone some serious tidying up the past days. My workroom. Wish I had before-photos, but I forgot, so this is a in-the-middle-of-the-process-photo. I´d say I´m about half-way finished here, so you can imaging what it was before!

Now, I´ve got to get the rest of the Christmas-tree decorations down (the tree survived by pure will till today I think), and then it´s time for ARTing! Yay!
