Welcome to my site! I work as an eco-designer, an artist, as a teacher and as a researcher, and creating, or ARTING as I prefer, makes me happy! This is both a portfolio of things I´ve made and a blog meant to inspire.

Artfest

By spotogspindel | April 16, 2009

I am just back from my working holiday in the USA. I´ve seen and done so much,it will have to make several posts. But let me start with Artfest. An intensive event over 4 nights and 3 days. One of the teachers there, artist Karen Michel said it was just like Woodstock or artists. The atmosphere was unique, everyone so friendly  and nice. And I learned so much! From the teachers, but just as much from the other participants. Telling me about all kinds of supplies and techniques.

The first day I had a class with Misty Mawn “All bundled up”, making backgrounds for collages. Lots of messy painting and lots of fun! And a definite bonus was that I met Michelle here, who I later visited in Portland. More on that later.

Second day was Lynne Perellas class “A face in the crowd”. We were introduced to her unique collage-style. And although I am nearly finished, below you can get an impression of where I´m headed.

Third day  was with L.K. Ludwig in her “Metal mash printing”-class. Oh my god, what fun! Working like a maniac, trying to squeeze in as much as possible during the 6 hours we had. I mounted my work on my backgrounds from the first day, and was very happy with the result. And extra bonus: this is when I got to know Deirdra.

Both Deirdras and Michelles blogs are now in my links. Have a look at their sites.

The evenings were also spent together. Vendors night, bonfire- and journaling on the beach, and show-and-tell. I almost think the best part was the  journaling in the evenings at dorm 202. Lots of people sitting there, painting, drawing, talking, and just creating together.

Oh this was so much fun..seeing what you did in your classes. I love the idea of Woodstock! I will use that. Yes it is an amazing place of life and will forever be a place that many Great artists and pieces of Art will spring up from for the future. We are honored to be a part of it.
I love the photo of us..Thank you.

Janne! Hello friend! Sorry it’s taken me so long to write! I’ve thought of you often and I hope the rest of your “working holiday” in the U.S. was fabulous! I dropped right back into the reality of my life…and I sadly miss artfest. But I feel so blessed to have been able to go! Are you still interested in doing art swap challenges with me here in Canada? It would be so cool to be able to keep in touch thru art! :o) I am going to have my blog up soon I hope. Susan said she would help me figure out how to post pics(which is whats holding me up :o) ) Send me a quick email if you have time (and if you remember your dorm neighbor from artfest :o) ) Tammy!
