Tonight´s the night! The grand opening of GREASE! A couple of photos from the rehearsals below. This is backstage right now: the girls are in make-up/hair-styling. In about 10 minutes it´s the boys´ turn. This “ON AIR” sign is one of the last props made. In co-operation with the light-designer. I found a metal cookie-box […]
We´re in the last week – Thursday is the opening night of GREASE! Some of today´s props include making milk-shakes. That is, empty milk-shake-glasses. That still have a hint of milkshake in them. No clean glasses in other words. I found these funky plastic glasses in a charity-shop, made a mixture of acrylic paint, high-gloss […]
We interrupt these backstage theatre reports with a completely different matter. I´m in Ulsteinvik a couple of days to hang a truck-load of pictures. Both my own art, two colleagues art and children´s art. The Christening isn´t until the end of February, but the ship will be at sea until right before, so the decorations […]
Well, maybe it downs´t exactly look like real soul food just yet. But it a good beginning. Props include food, and there is a lot of food in Grease. School cafeteria food including macaroni and beans. One portion will be edible, the rest are just for show. The ingredient are both still dry, and mixed […]
One of the props in GREASE is fake palm trees. The designer decided to use foil-palms. When they arrived, the were a bit smaller than we anticipated, so today´s task was to make palm-tree-leaf-extensions! Using a few simple materials, above: cellophane, wire, tape and plastic.
Rubbestadneset high school students have been working all fall with the letters, welding and adding lights. To sort them, the lighting designer “laid” them all out in the seats. Starting to mount them onto the metal frame. They will look so cool with lights in them!
You may think I´ve quit blogging, you may think I have nothing to write about. Truth is, I´m working more than normal, with so much to do at GREASE, there is no time left. And when iPhoto is totally screwed, and I can´t upload my photos, it seems like less interesting to read. Anyway. I´m […]
January is GREASE-month in Haugesund! We all started yesterday, in all our different fields, on stage, back stage… like the theatre director says: it´s like a family-reunion, now that everyone is back! I want to share with you part of the process in the making of GREASE, but I´m having problems loading photos to my travel-Mac. […]
A new year is here, and I want to take time to celebrate some of my favorite memories from the year that´s gone. Here are some of my highlights: January: PERPLEKS, costume-design for Perpleks at Rogaland Teater. In June, it wins Hedda for best show! February: Optiship, reception art for a new shipping company. March: The biggest […]
