Welcome to my site! I work as an eco-designer, an artist, as a teacher and as a researcher, and creating, or ARTING as I prefer, makes me happy! This is both a portfolio of things I´ve made and a blog meant to inspire.

Sunnhordland

Monday, September 29th, 2014

This new textile label just arrived from India! Wow! And so many of them! I swear I´ll have enough for a lifetime here! What do I need them for? My collection of personalized art & design memorabilia from the Sunnhordland region. Or my textile souvenirs. Although that sounds a bit cheap. My handmade memories.

Poster art-exhibition

Monday, September 29th, 2014

A new art-exhibition is on it´s way in Bømlo Art Group, and as usual I made the poster. This time the artists are Helene Nielsen and Norunn Fresvig. It´s looks quite intriguing, don´t you think? The art, I mean.

painting with the coolest kids

Monday, September 29th, 2014

Painting with my niece and nephew, who just happens to be two of the coolest kids I know! It looked so much fun, that when I got back home, I started my own painting-project: my new calendar-book. This time a little different again. Making all the pages separately first, then sewing them together, first in […]

Naalebinding

Saturday, September 27th, 2014

A new workshop at the textile culture course, and another technique I have never tried before. Nålebinding is an old thread-binding technique, which the vikings used. So this is one of the original techniques, long before crochet and knitting. Knitting, which is popular today, didn´t become a common knowledge/skill until the 17th century. This is what […]

printing workshop

Thursday, September 25th, 2014

One of the fun projects that will go throughout the year, is visiting a arts and crafts class at one of the local schools. It will only be a short visit in each of the 4 groups during the year, where I show and tell a bit about printing. I notice that I am used […]

pirate shirt

Tuesday, September 23rd, 2014

Today is a sewing day. I´ve designed a pirate-costume for Pippi Longstocking´s father in the show starring in November. First up is the shirt, simply because I had the fabric I needed already in my stack. Made with fine, white linen, and in a very big size. Piecing it together, trying to make the inside […]

Familylife exhibition in Aalesund

Monday, September 22nd, 2014

The Family-life exhibition opened at Sunnmøre Museum in Ålesund September 14th. Tone Anda, the museum-curator, has made the most wonderful display! By adding tables filled with everyday things from the 50s and 60s, it´s a trip down memory-lane. It adds so much to the pictures, when they are placed into a whole of cultural history! […]

The idea-process illustrated

Monday, September 22nd, 2014

Task at hand: Make a bird-house. Decorate it. Be creative.  The bird-house will be part of an art-project, but it will be placed in the woods and inhabited by real birds. Everyone in the art-gurilia-group is making one each. To be honest: I asked my Dad to build the birdhouse for me. He´s got more tools. […]

Pippi-weekend

Sunday, September 21st, 2014

This has been my weekend: Unpacking a truckload (literary) of costumes and props for Pippi Longstocking. The show will premiere November 1st, and I´m helping out with the costumes. So this weekend, we´ve been trying on the rented costumes, trying to find something that fits for all the young actors.

Techical building and art

Saturday, September 20th, 2014

Bremnes Seashore has built a new building for the technical department. We´ve used some of the old photographs from their archive to decorate the stairwell. So many great portraits here of people at work. They all seem to really like their workplace. And a couple of yummy salmon dishes decorate the meeting room.
