11- lights, peace and giveaway!

By spotogspindel | December 11, 2011

Yesterday the Nobel Peace prize award was given to this year´s three laureates, Liberian peace activist Leymah Gbowee, Yemeni activist Tawakkol Karman and Liberian President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf.

Women play an important, if not always very visible, part in the world´s history and development. And this year´s focus was on women´s rights as part of lasting peace, in addition to the actual peace-process in Liberia and Yemen.

The 2011 Nobel Peace Prize laureates, from left, Liberian peace activist Leymah Gbowee, Yemeni activist Tawakkol Karman and Liberian President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, receive their awards Saturday.

We celebrated both the laureates and the darker season by hosting our own annual light-party. Light is certainly one thing appreciated at this time of year, with short days and long night, in this cold country in the north.

Lights on inside and out, live and electrical. Notice the big bluish spotlight in the sky 😉

It´s the third Sunday of Advent already, and time for my weekly goody give-away.

Christmas is a time of giving, and I really enjoy making the gifts myself. I thought I´d include you guys on my Christmas-gift-list this year, and every advent Sunday, I´ll ask Mr. Random to pick out a name from the past weeks comments who will receive a little something.

This week I made some small decorative magnets, not to mention that my postcards finally arrived, so here is this weeks goody give-away:

Five artist postcards and three magnets.

Want to win?

Here’s 3 ways to Enter:

1. Leave a comment on any of my posts in the past week, and get an entry.

2. If you leave a comment on this post telling me your favorite Christmas gift, either one you´ve given away, or one you´ve received, you get 2 entries!

3. Promote my giveaway on your blog and get 3 entries! Feel free to pull this image to use on your blog. And don’t forget to leave me a comment so I know you did.

Last weeks winner is the lovely Gail! Congratulations! I hope you´ll enjoy the little mitten 🙂

Now, what cooking over in the advent activity calendar corner?

Make snow-man-shaped pancakes for dinner.

When you´ve mastered the snowman-shape, look here for some more inspiration. And Bon Appetite! 🙂

Oh, lucky me! Thank you so much, Janne, I will love it!

My favorite gift was a little wooden basket my son made for me when he was a small boy. He made it in cub scouts, and his leader hid if for him and delivered it very early on Christmas morning. Part of the gift was that my little boy woke up early to wait for his scout leader so that I would be surprised. It still brings tears to my eyes to think of is.

I will promote your giveaway on my blog again!

Oh! And I love the idea of snowman pancakes! I always made my kids’ initials and flowers and such, but never thought to make a snowman!

I would treasure a gift like that too.
I only have one Santa in my decorations, and I got that from my nephew. He made it in kindergarden when he was 2 1/2 and specifically told the lady working there that it was for me. Needless to say, the crocked Santa with the cotton-beard is my favorite santa of all times!

For the last few years my wife and I have given each other pushbikes, that we have never actually gone and gotten. So they might not be my favourite presents, but b0y, they are the most consistent 🙂
